The Executive Committee of the Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School, would like to acknowledge and congratulate the trainees and faculty who received the following HMS Psychiatry Research Awards and Fellowships during the 2016 academic year.  It is a marvelous way to celebrate our vibrant combined academic community.
 

Stuart Hauser Mentorship Award - The yearly Award is given to a faculty member(s) at Harvard Medical School for outstanding sustained mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty in the areas of adult and child psychiatry, human development, and psychosocial research. 

  • Jennifer Moye, PhD,  Associate Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the Boston Veterans Affairs Healthcare System

Mysell Award for Best Poster Presentation by a Fellow - Award given for the best Fellow poster presentation at the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry Research Day.

  • Adam Harrington, Ph.D., McLean Hospital – “Mef2c regulates cortical synaptic balance and behaviors relevant to intellectual and developmental disorders”

Solomon Award for Best Poster Presentation by a Resident - Award given for the best Resident poster presentation at the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry Research Day.

  • Paulo Lizano, M.D., Ph.D., Harvard Longwood Residency Training Program – “Genetic networks utilizing angiogenic SNPs are associated with psychopathology and medial temporal lobe structures across the psychosis spectrum: A BSNIP study”
     
  • Edwin Raffi, M.D., M.P.H.,  South Shore Residency Training Program –  “Characteristics of veterans with four or more inpatient admission for medically managed detoxification from substances”

Dupont Warren Fellows – Awarded to HMS Psychiatry Residents to create opportunities for advanced study and research in Psychiatry, and to serve as a bridge between clinical training and the development of a research career.

  • Tracey Barbour, M.D., Massachusetts General Hospital – “Understanding the Behavioral and Neural Correlates of Anhedonia”
     
  • Michael Nevarez, M.D., Massachusetts General Hospital – “Childhood Adversity, Stress, Reactivity and Midlife Health Outcomes”
     
  • Erica Greenberg, M.D., Massachusetts General Hospital – “Modified comprehensive behavioral intervention to tics:  Treating children with Tic disorders, co-occurring ADHD and psychosocial impairment
     
  • Paulo Lizano, M.D., Harvard Longwood Residency Training Program, “Angiogenesis, genes, and biomarkers in psychotic spectrum disorders”
     
  • David Perez, M.D., Massachusetts General Hospital, “Clinical and neuroimaging markers of symptom severity in motor functional neurological symptom disorders”

Kaplen Fellowship on Depression – This Fellowship was endowed specifically to support training in research on depression and allied affective disorders.

  • Jeremy Stewart, Ph.D., McLean Hospital – “Examining behavioral and neural mechanisms underlying suicidality in depressed adolescents”

Norman E. Zinberg Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry Research - This Fellowship was endowed specifically to support training in research on alcohol and drug use disorders.

  • Chloe Jordan, Ph.D.,  McLean Hospital – “Early risk factors and behavioral interventions for cocaine dependence”

Livingston Award – This award provides support to beginning investigators in psychiatric research.

  • Erica Greenberg, M.D., Massachusetts General Hospital – “Modified comprehensive behavioral intervention to tics:  Treating children with Tic disorders, co-occurring ADHD and psychosocial impairment
     
  • Sarah Hope Lincoln, Ph.D., Children’s Hospital – “Imitation, stimulation, and theory of mind:  A behavioral intervention for children at risk for and with psychotic disorders”

  • Amanda Lyall, Ph.D., Brigham & Women’s Hospital – “Utilizing DTI to understand the relationship between white matter maturation and cognitive deficits in schizophrenia risk”
     
  • Michael Murphy, M.D., Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital – “Directional functional connectivity as a marker of clinical disorganization”
