The Executive Committee of the Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School, would like to acknowledge and congratulate the trainees and faculty who received the following HMS Psychiatry Awards and Fellowships during the 2019 academic year. Stuart Hauser Mentorship Award - The yearly Award is given to a faculty member(s) at Harvard Medical School for outstanding sustained mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty in the areas of adult and child psychiatry, human development, and psychosocial research.

Cynthia N. Kettyle Teaching Award for Medical Student Education in Psychiatry – Presented annually since 2004 to HMS faculty members who have inspired medical students by their warmth, character and dedication to medical student teaching in psychiatry and have exemplified for students the vitality and relevance of psychiatry to medical practice.

Jonathan F. Borus Outstanding Early Career Educator Award in Medical Student Education in Psychiatry – Presented annually since 2011 to junior HMS faculty members at Harvard Medical School who have demonstrated exceptional promise, initiative and commitment in the area of psychiatric education.

Mysell Award for Best Poster Presentation by a Fellow - Award given for the best poster presentation by a Fellow at the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry Research Day.

  • Kristina M. Cieslak, M.D., MGH/McLean – “Integrated diabetes management for individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI)”

     

Solomon Award for Best Poster Presentation by a Resident - Award given for the best poster presentation by a Resident at the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry Research Day.

  • Shan Siddiqi, M.D., Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – “Distinct symptom-specific treatment targets for circuit-based neuromodulation”

     

Dupont Warren Fellows – Awarded to HMS Psychiatry Residents to create opportunities for advanced study and research in Psychiatry, and to serve as a bridge between clinical training and the development of a research career.

  • Meredith Gansner, M.D., Cambridge Health Alliance – “Feasibility of ecological momentary assessment to assess problematic digital media use and mood symptoms in a clinical adolescent/young adult sample: A pilot cohort study”

     

Kaplen Fellowship on Depression – This Fellowship was endowed specifically to support training in research on depression and allied affective disorders.

  • Yuen-Sian Ang, Ph.D., McLean Hospital – “Developing a novel behavioral index to probe the neural basis of motivational anhedonia in Major Depressive Disorder”
     
  • Emily Feig, Ph.D., Massachusetts General Hospital – “Development of a positive psychological/behavioral intervention to improve mood and physical activity in post-bariatric surgery patients with depression”
     
  • Julie McCarthy, Ph.D., McLean Hospital – “Depression and substance use vulnerability in individuals with psychosis”

     

Norman E. Zinberg Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry Research - This Fellowship was endowed specifically to support training in research on alcohol and drug use disorders.

  • Colin Burke, M.D., Massachusetts General Hospital – Toward enhancing resilience: Examining factors linked to severity of substance use in homeless and street-involved transitional age youth

     

Livingston Award – This award provides support to beginning investigators in psychiatric research.
